History compliation 1YWCA Yorkshire is an independent charity and an autonomous member of the YWCA of Great Britain.

The YWCA of Great Britain was formed in 1855 to provide safe hostel accommodation to Florence Nightingale’s nurses from all over the country who were travelling through London en route to and from the Crimea, and is affiliated to the World YWCA, which is a global network of women leading social and economic change in over 120 countries worldwide.

YWCA has supported disadvantaged young women for over 150 years, and is the oldest women’s organisation in the world.


History compliation 2Sheffield YWCA (YWCA Yorkshire) has been delivering services to women and children in Sheffield since the 1940’s.
