Father Christmas Announces South Yorkshire Tour
South Yorkshire residents are in for a treat this month when Father Christmas visits the region during his busiest time of year.
Taking time out from his toy-making workshops this December, Father Christmas will be meeting and greeting shoppers at Tesco Wath-Upon Dearne on Friday 6th, and Tesco Hoyland on Saturday 14th, between 10am and 4pm.
At what is undoubtedly the busiest time of year for Santa and his helpers, this magical appearance has been squeezed into his festive schedule in support of local women’s charity; YWCA Yorkshire Green Gables.
Father Christmas said: “Christmas is a time for community, family and friendship. Whilst toy-making and elf-management are important parts of my role, nothing takes priority over supporting charities that work with vulnerable communities. When Green Gables got in touch and asked me to help give the children of Doncaster an extra magical experience this Christmas, I jumped at the chance!
“There is a bit of a misconception that I work from a naughty and nice list. This is one of those rumours started by parents to encourage good behaviour - and I can see why - it has worked in their favour for centuries. The truth is though, there is no such thing as a ‘naughty list’. All children, everywhere, deserve to feel celebrated and connected and it’s charities like Green Gables that work hard to make sure that even the most vulnerable families in our communities get a special treat on Christmas Day.
“I’m over the moon to be bobbing over to South Yorkshire on my sledge this month and helping them raise money for all the families they support.
“I’ll be there with a sack of gifts for the kids who come out to see me, and there will be raffles and prizes to entertain and delight families, with all the funds raised going towards local charity Green Gables. As we say back home in Lapland - HO HO HO!”
Raffle prizes include food and drink hampers, tickets, vouchers and electronics, with goods donated by big hearted South Yorkshire businesses including, Hobloft Farm Cyder, Barnsley Football Club, Tesco, Farmfoods, Nails by Laura Ann and Jessie’s Blooms.
