The Spirit of Christmas is Alive and Kicking in Rotherham

Our charity works with women, children and families all year round to support them to create better futures for themselves right here in Rotherham.

Christmas time can be particularly challenging for women who have experienced homelessness, financial hardship and family breakdowns. It takes a whole community and specialist trauma-informed services to support women up and out of these situations. This year our Fleming Gardens service has seen first hand the generosity of spirit and goodwill from our neighbours and friends in Rotherham.

Christmas came early when local business Roy Hatfield reached out to support our campaign for a new Wellbeing Hub catering for local families with a donation of £2650.

This week our residents were delighted by Christmas Carols as we were joined on the cul-de-sac by Joanne and friends.

Not forgetting the Fleming Family Christmas Party and Santa’s Grotto hosted by Rotherham Central Tesco. This brought families together from across Rotherham. Children’s toys, treats and care packages were donated to families by Roy Hatfield and Ann Levick from Families First. Thanks to their tireless efforts, every one of our children and families will get a gift this Christmas.

And we’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of supporters who have donated through our Christmas Wishlist – so that all our families feel connected and cared for this Christmas.

Fleming Gardens is one of three housing and wrap-around support projects delivered by YWCA Yorkshire in South Yorkshire. Together, we support more than 250 families all year round. We provide safe housing and specialist support for some of the most vulnerable families in our communities.

We couldn't do this without you Rotherham. Thank you, and a very Merry Christmas to you all.
