A message from Kelly Wooller, Charity Board Trustee and Women’s advocate
As many of you know, I'm passionate about inclusive first aid training. This means all people, being trained to save the lives and improve the outcomes, of all people. I'm also highly motivated to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals here in South Yorkshire.
Now that I have my own First Aid Training businesses, and Mini First Aid Sheffield Franchise, I have the freedom and flexibility to live what I love. A lot of my time is spent bringing essential skills to people who otherwise wouldn't have access to them, and planting that seed which can help us grow the NHS workforce of the future.
My passion to be part of change doesn't stop there though. I am also a Trustee to a South Yorkshire-based women's charity whose mission I completely align with.
YWCA Yorkshire are creating better futures for women, children and families. They do this though three housing and support projects in Rotherham, Doncaster and Sheffield, and through a range of domestic abuse, parenting, financial support, and skills building programmes.
YWCA Yorkshire is an incredible charity and I’m so proud to champion their work. The women and families we work with often don't have the wrap around support of family and friends to fall back on in hard times. I understand this. My own story started from a difficult place. We didn’t have much money and I didn't really have the role models or aspirations to achieve more at school or follow a particular career.
Volunteering as a First Aider changed that for me and the rest is well recorded history! Sometimes we just need a bit of help to get us up and on our feet and then you never know how far someone can run!
I do hope my networks will join me in supporting and celebrating YWCA Yorkshire for the amazing work that they do. To learn how you can partner with YWCA Yorkshire as a volunteer, through our Employer Supported Volunteer days, or through shared projects and donations, please don’t hesitate to contact admin@ywcayorkshire.org.uk.
