Fleming Gardens awarded £33K to deliver Smiles for Miles
YWCA Yorkshire Fleming Gardens has been awarded £33,000 over three years to deliver workshops and support programmes to young people in Rotherham.
Securing the award in April 2024, the targeted activity will run until March 2027. This is the second round of Smiles for Miles funding secured by Fleming Gardens - with the first programme running for 12 months between 2021 and 2022. The funding comes from the National Lottery and is allocated through the Children, Young People and Families Consortium; a consortium of voluntary sector providers in Rotherham.
Smiles for Miles is being delivered by 14 not-for-profit organisations, providing services, support, and activities to young people aged 8 to 21 in the Rotherham area – people over 21 with learning disabilities can also benefit.
Through the programme, Fleming Gardens is delivering a range of support activities for young people to understand and improve their own mental health and to access trauma-informed support for domestic abuse, relationship breakdowns and homelessness.
People in Rotherham can self-refer for this support or parents and professionals can make referrals directly. Please email YWCA Yorkshire Project Manager Elly Thompson to find out about upcoming support programmes and training packages. elly.thompson@ywcayorkshire.org.uk
